{"id":3560,"date":"2018-05-29T13:08:57","date_gmt":"2018-05-29T17:08:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/therosenbaumlawfirm.com\/blog\/?p=3560"},"modified":"2018-05-29T13:08:57","modified_gmt":"2018-05-29T17:08:57","slug":"dont-shrug-your-shoulders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/therosenbaumlawfirm.com\/blog\/?p=3560","title":{"rendered":"Don&#8217;t shrug your shoulders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"s4\">One of my pet peeves out there is when you give a list of complaints to a business or an organization and they give the proverbial \u201cshrug of the shoulders\u201d. The \u201cproverbial shrug\u201d is basically the business or the organization telling you that they aren\u2019t going to merit a discussion of your complaints because like what Jeff <\/span><span class=\"s4\">Probst<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> tells losing reward challenge participants on Survivor, they have nothing for you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s4\">I always say that everything in business is about communication because it\u2019s a connection business. \u00a0Having empathy for clients who aren\u2019t happy with your service goes a long way. Saying that you understand their complaints and that you will try better the next time goes a long way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s4\">Taking the path that apologizing in any way possible is like admitting to a criminal act is only going to exacerbate the tension with the client. Whether the client\u2019s gripes are justified or not (and many times they aren\u2019t because it may contravene the law), they want to be heard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s4\">I\u2019ve learned as the older I get that when I\u2019m unhappy with something, I\u2019ll complain and let my feelings known. When the business or the organization I\u2019m dealing with, tells me that it doesn\u2019t care by not even trying to address a problem, I\u2019m going to be looking for someone else to work with. \u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s4\">People sometimes complain and all they want is to be heard and acknowledged, they don\u2019t even want an apology.
