It was the highpoint of a great movie.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\"><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">I\u2019m not going to go through a discussion on sales, but a cautionary tale that you have to advise your clients to navigate a path where other plan providers will try to sell you client products or services that they don\u2019t need. So instead of Always Be Closing, you should \u201cAlways Be Watching\u201d what happens with your client.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\"><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">I <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">once <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">h<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">ad<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> a retirement plan spon<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">sor client trying to terminate his<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> retireme<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">nt plan. The retirement plan had<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> a fully paid up insurance policy and <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">the sole owner participant wanted<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> to purchase that policy f<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">rom the Plan. So my client talked<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> with a salesperson with the insurance company about the policy. Of course, the new salesman wants to sell my client anoth<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">er insurance policy that he did<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">n\u2019t need <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">because the business was folding and he was<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> 71. \u00a0So I always watch and my client avoided buying <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">that<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> new policy.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\"><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">I advised my client that he should open a new bank account for his retirement plan at the local bank when dealing with transferring the life insurance policy. So my client <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">went<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> to the local bank <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">to<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> set up a bank account for the plan\u2019s trust. The bank t<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">old<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> him that he has to meet with the financial advisor at the bank, i.e, the broker. Why does anyone have to meet a broker to open a bank account? Not to talk a<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">bout how my Mets will do in 2018<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\"><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">It\u2019s not enough to service the client, you always have to watch and make sure that the client doesn\u2019t end up buying retirement plan services and products that they don\u2019t need.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class='st_sharethis' st_title='{title}' st_url='{url}' displayText='ShareThis'><\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who can forget Alec Baldwin\u2019s speech in Glengarry Glenn Ross on how salesmen should \u201cAlways Be Closing\u201d and how coffee is for closers only?
