{"id":3498,"date":"2018-04-09T22:29:49","date_gmt":"2018-04-10T02:29:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/therosenbaumlawfirm.com\/blog\/?p=3498"},"modified":"2018-04-09T22:29:49","modified_gmt":"2018-04-10T02:29:49","slug":"a-little-humor-may-help","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/therosenbaumlawfirm.com\/blog\/?p=3498","title":{"rendered":"A Little Humor May Help"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"s3\"><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">When I worked at that law firm, I always felt I was Al <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Czervik<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, the Rodney Dangerfield character from <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Caddyshack<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> while the Managing Attorney was like Judge <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Elihu<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Smails<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> or maybe <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Smails<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u2019 wife since the Managing Attorney was female. Regardless, I was always treated as if I didn\u2019t belong. Didn\u2019t matter if I brought in business or got my name quoted nationally or gave away U.S. Open tickets at Bethpage, the Mana<\/span><\/span><a name=\"_GoBack\"><\/a><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">ging Attorney didn\u2019t like me.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\"><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">They were so serious there. Like the Joker in The Dark Knight, I always wanted to know: \u201cWhy so serious?\u201d If you read my blog posts and articles, besides the grammatical errors, you probably notice the humor. Maybe I\u2019m a failed comedian, but comedy here and there is my way of making the audience more comfortable when they have to digest some dense topics like ERISA and 401(k).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\"><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">You should never take yourself too seriously. You shouldn\u2019t belittle what you do, but a little humor goes a long way in breaking down walls that might be placed up by an audience that feels they\u2019re going to be bored with what you\u2019re going to say in your role as a retirement plan provider.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s3\"><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Don\u2019t operate your business as a retirement plan provider as a stuffy country club.
