{"id":5844,"date":"2021-10-31T17:49:57","date_gmt":"2021-10-31T21:49:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/therosenbaumlawfirm.com\/blog\/?p=5844"},"modified":"2021-10-31T17:49:57","modified_gmt":"2021-10-31T21:49:57","slug":"dol-proposes-esg-rule","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/therosenbaumlawfirm.com\/blog\/?p=5844","title":{"rendered":"DOL proposes ESG rule"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Department of Labor (DOL) finally proposed a rule that would allow plan fiduciaries to consider climate change and other environmental, social and governance factors when selecting investments and exercising shareholder rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposal, states \u201cthat climate change and other ESG factors are often material and that in many instances fiduciaries \u2026 should consider climate change and other ESG factors in the assessment of investment risks and returns.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new proposal includes specific language about ESG factors\u2014as well as other \u201ccollateral benefits\u201d such as social good\u2014serving as a tiebreaker when a fiduciary is selecting between economically indistinguishable investment options.
